“What happened to your African religion? Christianity is the white man’s religion.”

by editor on August 30, 2010

Ahhhh, the gentle voices of liberal tolerance and understanding as expressed at Saturday’s Glenn Beck rally in Washington, DC.

Consider this clip in two parts:

In the first part, black tea partiers educate a black Democrat who just couldn’t comprehend why other black people would support Beck and attend the rally.

In the second part we get a white guy who’s baffled by the concept of black and Christian being used as adjectives to describe the same person.

But he’s a liberal, so that’s not racism. It’s enlightenment.

That was disrespectful. No matter what religious beliefs a person chooses they should be respected.

But people make their choices for a reason and so I’ve always wondered what the sociological reasons are that now that African peoples have independent countries there has never emerged a strong movement to return to their original faiths. Given the history of Europeans going in and forcing conversion and how the African peoples have definitely developed an anti-colonial conscious you’d expect a return to the old roots and renunciation of customs and traditions that had been brutally forced on them to be a part of it, but instead they are embracing these values that were forced on them even more strongly as we can see in Uganda with the Lord’s Resistance Army(I know that’s an extremist fringe). I can’t imagine following a faith that was forced on my ancestors, no matter how long ago. I am not religious, but my first choice if I became religious would be Germanic or Celtic paganism, since my European ancestors were forced out of that faith about a 1000 years ago.

I laugh that he says he should be a Muslim. Islam came from Arabia and was spread by the sword. That has also puzzled me that black people (or in this case a white guy) who says blacks shouldn’t be Christian because it is a white man’s religion offer up Islam, an Arab religion as an alternative(and if you think about it, Christianity is a Jewish religion, started in Israel!). I wonder what sociological factors drove that. It always seems like any debate between Christians and Muslims is played off as an “either/or”, both sides using their criticism of the other to prove they are right, ignoring the possibility of choosing neither of them.

I’m reading a book right now. “Afrocentricity” by Molefi Kete Asante. The author actually calls for blacks to turn away from both Christianity and Islam and return to traditional faiths. It’s an interesting read.

Oh really…? Barring a very badly placed perhaps facetious post… I am curious, could you please post something intelligent next time to support your theory?

Dictionary.com and Merriam-Webster’s definition of a human being and human:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/human
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/human+being
http://www.learnersdictionary.com/search/human

So on those very basic levels Black people qualify as a human being…

If we are talking about something more complex like being able to communicate (have a language of some kind… either written, speech, sign (all)), the ability to construct a civilization (from “primitive” to contemporary) and looking like a human being normally looks like I guess also defines a human being and therefore Black people would also qualify…

So please… enlighten me, how exactly “99% of all Blacks are not even human”? and what happened to the 1%?

Kimmy, I deleted the racist’s post before I saw your reply.

KimmyQueen December 13, 2010 at 12:17 pm

OK if you would like to delete mine I have no problem with it whatsoever thanks.

RKae December 13, 2010 at 7:33 pm

Damn! Late to the party!

I would have liked to have seen the racist’s post. Coming from a very racist family, I heard all kinds of weird theories. One my dad propounded for a while was that in legal proceedings “Man” means white people and “human being” is for all the “mud” folks and “mongrels.” I don’t know if he ever shifted from that one to something else (he never stayed on one theory long, as a crazier one always popped up to entice him), I quit talking to him.

I know! I was cheering these guys on…and then I saw the website and was like, “NOOOOOOO!!!” Why?!

KimmyQueen September 5, 2010 at 11:08 am

Yes the website does make them look a bit insane.

I am not a lib, so don’t yell at me. LBJ grew up in Texas during the depression, and was extremly poor. He often went hungry. He worked very hard from a young age to move up in the world. When he was in a position to offer some help to the poor, He created the Great Society. He did not want children and old people dying because they couldn’t afford food or a doctor. He always figured the young ones would use that as a hand up, and work thier butts off to improve themselves, just as he had. I doubt he ever thought it would play out the way it has. And remember, he was a lifetime Democrat in a time of the Solid South, when the Democratic party WAS the conservative party. There have been major changes in the party platforms, with dems going further and further to the left, and Repubs becoming the more conservative party. Just saying.

SC September 3, 2010 at 7:04 pm

Hey Deb,

It has become hard to tell the difference between those who really care like LBJ and those who want more power. I guess the message in your comment would be that LBJ was just not as smart as he should have been. I always believed he was not very smart and that he was forced into signing the Civil Rights Bill besides but I will never say that he did not care about poor people. Maybe he did but he was mistaken about human nature.

Deb September 4, 2010 at 12:29 am

Oh Don’t get me wrong. LBJ was all about the power, and he was seriously annoyed when Kennedy was Nominated for the Dem Candidate. He had worked and built up a network for years, then JFK comes along with minimal experience but a lot of money and snatches the Presidency right out of his hand. To add insult to injury, Kennedy’s Ivy League, Northeastern band of supporters assumed LBJ was stupid because he was from Texas. Big mistake. Research a little about how he handled his swearing in after Kennedy was killed. He wasn’t even told if the President was alive or dead, and he was in a different care, did not see the damage. He got on Air Force 1 which appalled the Kennedy group, had a judge who was a friend come to swear him in and held the flight until she could get to Love field, then made sure Jackie was standing beside him during the ceremony, inferring her support of him as president. He wasn’t stupid, just not prepared for the changes that 1963 set in motion.

“He had worked and built up a network for years, then JFK comes along with minimal experience but a lot of money and snatches the Presidency right out of his hand.”

WOW!!! substitute Obongo for JFK and this quote could be describing Joe Biden.

Deb January 21, 2011 at 9:31 am

Except LBJ really was smart. Joe Biden? Not so much.

True Historian January 21, 2011 at 3:11 pm

Smart? Not so much. Crafty is better was to describe LBJ. He was like a poor man’s Andrew Johnson to JFK’s Lincoln.

Necron_99 January 21, 2011 at 8:48 pm

Well said True Historian… I can see the parallel you’re drawing between LBJ’s so called ‘Great Society’ and Andy J’s “Radical Reconstruction”… Neither were very useful as tools for healing a divided nation, and in fact drove the schism even wider. That and the fact that they were both weak hang-dog third string Veep’s of convenience (kind of like Biden) who came into power only because their strong popular Presidents were assassinated. Curiouser and curiouser…. hmmm.

The idiots got owned and owned GOOD. Owned I tell you. First off Christianity IS NOT a “white man’s” religion. First of all as a female I can tell you right now that Christianity is not for men only. Christianity is EXTREMELY (in a good way) pro women. That is one of the many reasons Jesus was considered such a danger, because He equalized women and men. The second thing I want to say that is that IF ANYTHING Christianity is a JEWISH (regardless of gender) religion. Jews TEND to be white although that is because many are of european descendency however Jews overall are semitic so they can be dark skinned. With that said, Christianity even though original Jewish sect or denomination is not a religion pertaining to one group over another in fact Jesus the last time I checked would not have considered Himself WHITE as there was no such thing in His time on Earth and it wouldn’t have mattered as He wouldn’t be considered WHITE anyway. Once He left the planet to sit on His throne I am sure any indication of race was no longer an issue for Him, and it is very well said in Scripture that all in all there is no such thing as race or class or social strata when it comes to the Faith.

The liberals once again show how uneducated, classless and REAL RACISTS they are or can be. Disgusting.

Idiots want to say that it was LBJ that was the champion of civil rights, but in truth he had NO OTHER option. He had to do it or else he would have been crucified. It wasn’t that long ago before that that he actually fought AGAINST civil rights laws. So LBJ is no hero.

Necron_99 September 3, 2010 at 2:23 pm

Not only is LBJ no hero, but as the author of “The Great Society” he is the original Dumbocrat plantation master. The great society wasn’t about civil rights, it was about creating a kinder and gentler version of concentration camps to keep minorities they couldn’t politically ignore out of mainstream society and the job market. The prevailing mentality of the dumbocrats under LBJ’s regime was if you throw the minorities enough freebies to keep them tided over they’ll stay concentrated in their “separate, but not so equal” little reservations, the majority of tax payers won’t mind chipping in to keep them there, and as a bonus, the DNC will get a built in voting bloc. LBJ and his dumbocrat cronies are the real villains and architects of all our social problems in America today. Without him and his so-called “Great Society” losers like Carter, the Clintons, Obongo, Jackson, Sharpton, Pelosi, Boxer, Reid, etc. etc. etc wouldn’t have been possible.

KimmyQueen September 3, 2010 at 4:43 pm

It was an insidious and evil plan starting really with Wilson (thank you Glenn Beck) and continued with FDR. I don’t understand why generations of black people have continued to be willfully blinded.

4rc August 30, 2010 at 8:32 pm

Martin Luther King was a Republican as well

Joe August 30, 2010 at 6:29 pm

Did anyone check out the blond hottie with the camera and sunglasses? If Glenn had told me this I would have been there in a heartbeat. Heartbeat!

As far as the liberal guy, ya he’s a liberal. Was anyone actually shocked that a liberal would ask this sort of question?

Elrond Hubbard August 30, 2010 at 6:12 pm

I never knew that religion was race specific. Thank you liberals for clearing up that issue. See, liberals know everything, they’re much smarter than you and me and certainly much smarter than those Black Christians who don’t even know that they’re worshipping a White God. So, Allah is Black (but Brown in Arab lands). Vishnu is also Brown but might be white, the Buddha is Yellow, except in California where he can be White. Yahweh is also White but can be Brown. The Great Spirit is Red but Gaia is Green…and, uh, let’s see. What about Mexicans? The solution is to whack those liberal a**holes with a polo mallet.

DJ August 30, 2010 at 10:13 pm

“…See, liberals know everything, they’re much smarter than you and me and certainly much smarter than those Black Christians who don’t even know that they’re worshiping a White God…”

Reminds me of a Reagan quote: “It isn’t that Liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.”

Deb September 3, 2010 at 12:14 pm

Wish I could give you 2 thumbs up on this one.

UU August 30, 2010 at 5:53 pm

“Christianity is a white man’s religion”? I am willing to be that Jesus was a heck of a lot darker than we portray him as.

KevinMN August 30, 2010 at 5:43 pm

OK. Hate speech! Hate speech! Time to call the Hate Crimes Truth Squads.

And be sure to get Chicken Little and the Little Boy Who Cried Wolf Blitzer, too!

RKae August 30, 2010 at 4:53 pm

That little college turd says, “You should be a Muslim.” Huh? Is Islam a “black man’s religion”? If it is, then why are Arabs, Persians and Indians Muslim?

And why does he want religious apartheid, anyway?

What a punk. What a fool.

Deb September 3, 2010 at 12:13 pm

Since when did Islam become a “black ” religion? THis little twit really needs to go back home and shut up.

Kenny August 30, 2010 at 4:40 pm

Since when has Christianity had a race attached to it? Jesus was a Jew, but he died for everyone’s sins (1 Corinthians 15:3-8), thats a fact.

I am offended as a Christian that my religion has been deemed as the “white man’s religion”, that makes no sense, and I am sure Martin Luther King Jr would have something to say about this.

SC August 30, 2010 at 4:37 pm

Awesome Black Americans! Love it. Where does that Lib come off calling Christianity the “White Mans Religion”? That is just pure hate you white progressive bastard… I’m sure he’s an atheist humanist…

Deb September 3, 2010 at 12:12 pm

I agree. I was highly offended at that remark, not that anyone will care when a CHristian is offended. Does this moron realize the fastest growing Christian population in the world is in Africa?

Ray August 30, 2010 at 4:35 pm

I guess the ignorant dipshits have never heard of Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Miranda Rights August 30, 2010 at 4:30 pm

Soo, I looked up the website they’re promoting. DUDE, DID ANYONE ELSE?? Haha, it suggests that the problem for black men is the 33% of evil black women as predicted in the bible.

And that Obama is the anti-christ (…can’t bust their balls for that one)

KimmyQueen August 31, 2010 at 12:07 pm
Too Bad August 30, 2010 at 4:28 pm

How dare this supposed ‘progressive’ tell a black man what he should believe? My hat’s off to the primary speaker in this video for not decking the idiot who asked him “what happened to his African religion”.

The hypocrisy of the left never ceases to amaze me. I’m offended and I’m not even black. Wish I’d been there – I’d have decked the white guy just on general principle. The white lefty didn’t even give the tea partier the respect of allowing him to voice his opinion without berating him. And they say conservatives are bigots!
